Falfurrias is the county seat of Brooks County, Texas, United States. The town is named for founder Edward Cunningham Lasater's ranch, La Mota de Falfurrias. In 1893, the Falfurrias ranch was one of the largest in Texas at some 350,000 acres.
The city is centered around the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 285 and is approximately 81 miles southwest of Corpus Christi, 90 miles southeast of Laredo, and 36 miles south of Alice. Population was 6,200 as of 2010.

ADVERTISEMENT AND INVITATION FOR BIDS
The City of Falfurrias will receive bids for the Brooks County, Texas, Disaster Recovery – Round 2.2 Drainage Improvements, GLO Contract No. 13‐209‐000‐7362 until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at City Hall, 625 N. St. Mary’s Street, Falfurrias, Texas, 78355. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Bids are invited for several items and quantities of work as follows:
- Base Bid (Schedule A) Cibolo Creek Flood and Drainage Facilities at Forrest, Eucalyptus, Crockett, Cedar, N. Best, 12th and 13th Street.
Additive Alternate Bid No. 1 (Schedule B) Cibolo Creek Flood and Drainage Facilities at 14th Street.
Additive Alternate Bid No. 2 (Schedule C) Cibolo Creek Flood and Drainage Facilities at Travis Street Low Water Crossing.
A Pre‐Bid Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Conference Room located at 205 E. Allen Street, Falfurrias, Texas 78355.
Copies of the Bid/Contract Documents may be may be procured from the Engineer, Coym, Rehmet & Gutierrez Engineering, L.P., (CRG) 5656 S. Staples, Suite 230, Corpus Christi, Texas 78411, upon payment of Fifty Dollars and 00/100 Dollars ($50.00). Documents can be obtained by mail upon receipt of an additional ($10.00) which is a non‐refundable postage/handling charge. The payment is non‐refundable. Plans and Specifications will be available at no charge to download through Sharefile. Please contact CRG office at 361‐991‐8550 or via email email@example.com to provide all company contact information. Once received instructions will be provided to download files.
A bid bond in the amount of 5% percent of the bid issued by an acceptable surety shall be submitted with each bid. A certified check or bank draft payable to the City of Falfurrias or negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (as par value) may be submitted in lieu of the Bid Bond.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than, the federally determined prevailing (Davis‐Bacon and Related Acts) wage rate, as issued by the Department of Labor and contained in the contract documents, must be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex age or national origin.
The City of Falfurrias reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. Adherence to the grant recipient’s Section 3 Policy is required for contracts and subcontracts in excess of $100,000.00.
Bids may be held by the City of Falfurrias for a period not to exceed 30 days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidder’s qualifications prior to the contract award.
